Nike, the American sportswear company, will continue to be Barcelona’s uniform maker for the next 26 years when they sign a new sponsorship agreement.

Following extensive negotiations and numerous hints that Barcelona would switch sponsors, it seems the two have reached an agreement.

The Blaugrana had made threats to either sign with competitors Puma, who were giving a €100 million signing bonus, or launch their own brand to produce uniforms.

But because Barcelona is still obligated to Nike until 2028, breaking that deal would have forced Barcelona to pay an additional €40–50 million.

According to Marca, Nike and Barcelona are almost certain to execute a contract; anything other would need a dramatic change of heart.

The new agreement, which includes bonuses, will last for ten years and be valued between €1.2 billion and €1.3 billion. Barcelona was eager to negotiate a contract that would bring in €120 million year, and they are almost there. Penalties for poor performance will not be part of the new agreement.

The Blaugrana, who now make €85 million a season with an additional €20 million in incentives contingent on success, should appreciate the cash increase. Additionally, it will maintain the two of them’s illustrious relationship.
