Join ‘Knives Out 3′ Cast Movie Promotion: The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny will be appearing with Daniel Craig in the forthcoming Knives Out 3 sequel.
Craig will play Benoit Blanc again in the upcoming ensemble murder mystery movie, writer and director Rian Johnson announced last week on X, previously Twitter.
He also disclosed the sequel’s title, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, in a 45-second teaser trailer.
“Wake Up Dead Man is the next Benoit Blanc mystery, the follow-up to Knives Out and Glass Onion,” the director captioned the image on Friday.
Following Johnson’s tweet, Netflix also verified Craig’s comeback and the title of the sequel on its Tudum website.
That’s correct, in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out 3 Mystery, a new Rian Johnson-written and -directed whodunit, Daniel Craig returns to his role as the dapper Southern detective.
With a fresh colorful group of suspects around her, Blanc will be solving a brand-new murder case in an as-yet-undisclosed locale, according to the streaming behemoth.
The filmmaker also announced on social media that the sequel’s production is about to get underway.
Before the movie’s title was revealed, Johnson said on X, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.” “One of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies is getting to explore the whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie.”
Next year, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will make its Netflix premiere.
O’Connor is fresh off a breakthrough performance in the tennis drama Challengers, while Spaeny is starring in Alien: Romulus, which is set to release on August 16 and previously appeared in A24’s Civil War. Johnson Shapiro, Independent Talent Group, and CAA represent O’Connor. WME, Sugar 23, and Hansen Jacobson represent Spaeny.
