Andy Dalton arrived in New Orleans aiming to serve as a trustworthy backup behind current starter Jameis Winston after spending time with the Cowboys and Bears over the previous two seasons.

Winston was hampered by ankle and back injuries entering Week 4, propelling Dalton into the starting lineup considerably sooner than anybody might have predicted.
