A Louisiana mom was found dead in her house Thursday, and her two young kids were kidnapped and discovered hours later in Mississippi – one dead and the other alive, according to authorities.
A Louisiana man who had dated the lady was detained in Jackson, Mississippi, in connection with the killings and kidnapping, according to authorities.

“He had the victim’s car as well as her healthy 6-year-old child,” said Chief Deputy Jimmy Travis of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.
Travis said the corpse of the second kid, a 4-year-old, was discovered beside the automobile in a forested area of Jackson.
Louisiana State Police issued an Amber Alert for the children after their mother, Callie Brunett, was discovered dead at her house in Loranger, approximately 60 miles (97 kilometers) east of Baton Rouge.
Travis said she was reported missing after no one had heard from her since Tuesday. The reason of death was not immediately known.
“This was just an unspeakable crime,” stated Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims’ families.” “It was a horrific tragedy.”
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said that police contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation’s human trafficking branch about the issue. He said that little animal cages were spotted in the forested area where the children were found.
“He tried to do away with the children by taking them into this wooded area,” Wade said of the perpetrator, adding, “This was a horrible, horribly tragic situation that was committed by the actions of a coward.”
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards said Daniel Callihan, 36, was apprehended late Thursday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi. Callihan is suspected of carrying out terrible and atrocious acts of violence, including the killings of Loranger resident Callie Brunett, 35, and her daughter, Erin Brunett, 4.
“Our thoughts are with everyone touched by this awful occurrence. These are horrific atrocities. “We ask that everyone keep Callie’s family in their prayers,” Sheriff Edwards stated.
