Following the Alex Murdaugh double murder trial, the Colleton County Courthouse is now open to the public for tours.
People began wandering up to the courthouse shortly after the trial ended, according to the clerk of court’s office. That’s when the tours started.
People want to see Randolph “Buster” Murdaugh Jr.’s portrait on the back wall of the courtroom each day, they want to sit in Alex Murdaugh’s chair as well as the witness chair, and they want to see where the jury sat, we’re told.
All you have to do to take a tour of the courthouse is go up and ask. If there is a trial, you will be instructed to return, therefore it is advisable to phone the courthouse beforehand to check if it is a good time.
The courthouse may be reached at 843-549-5791. You can also find the Colleton County trial calendar at www.sccourts.org, where you may click on the calendar, terms of court, and then Circuit 14.
